I wanted to put it down a couple of times, as I kept waiting for something to happen and nothing much did, but for some reason it kept me turning the pages. I THINK I enjoyed it overall - beautifully written - but I definitely wouldn't ever want to visit Moscow now!Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05986874444030474719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867943957295965224.post-88474216025745596412011-12-06T10:44:52.438-08:002011-12-06T10:44:52.438-08:00I loved The Siege too - not a book you can quickly...I loved The Siege too - not a book you can quickly forget.Kath McGurlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02526923882402757423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7867943957295965224.post-44721078831375430742011-12-05T02:36:06.749-08:002011-12-05T02:36:06.749-08:00Kath, I agree with much of what you say about '...Kath, I agree with much of what you say about 'Snowdrops' - which I've just finished reading. My partner also read it first and was disappointed that 'not much happened' (he's much more of a Simon Scarrow/Conn Igguldsen sort of person!) but I enjoyed it and thought it was well-written. It made me feel deeply uncomfortable - both about some of the characters and Moscow itself which, I agree, sounds like a terrible place!! (Hell on Earth!). It was very evocative of Moscow and the awful winter weather - in the same way that 'The Siege' by Helen Dunmore really captures that bitter cold (I expected it to be snowing everytime I looked out when I read that book!).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
